After graduating from the University of Edinburgh Michael undertook an internship at the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, before working as a staff director for Glyndebourne Touring Opera, City of Birmingham Touring Opera and Opera Box, and as an education director for Glyndebourne Opera and Mid Wales Opera.  As a director he created productions for Birmingham’s ‘Towards the Millenium’ Festival; and in Scotland for Edinburgh Grand Opera, Edinburgh Studio Opera, Edinburgh Music Theatre and his own company Green Room.

 

Throughout his career, Michael has demonstrated a commitment to theatre for young people and has served as Artistic Director of Shrewsbury Youth Theatre, macYT in Birmingham and West Lothian Youth Theatre in Scotland.

 

Having moved to Malta in March 2019, Michael spent two years working at Teatru Manoel.  Currently, he is an independent producer and director, Artistic Director of the youth theatre group Ignite, and a lecturer in the School of Performing Arts at the University of Malta.
